Body Mind Centering®

Group Workshops and Private Sessions

A framework for accessing ownership and agency to feel, move, listen, and speak from your body’s intelligence for ease, well-being, and growth.

These workshops offer an improvisational space to meditate on different aspects of your own embodiment, movement, and mind-body connections. You can move, rest, explore, and learn at your own pace in your own space.

Online Group BMC® Workshops

  • Endocrine Explorations

These energetic centers, vibrating and radiating with concentrated communication, dance with each other and many other systems of the body. Through visualization, somatization, and sounding, open your awareness to your glands. Explore them individually and as constellations connected to each other, revealing themes of balance, listening to the whole, grounding and support, while using rest, movement improvisation, and yoga as jumping off points for exploration

  • Contents and Container

Organs are the contents within our skeletal-muscular-connective tissue containers. They hold our internal responses and relationships to our personal, social, and evolutionary histories.
Tune into the dialogue between your bones and organs /container and contents. Explore these relationships within a guided movement exploration inviting qualities of power and strength, alignment and flow, mobility, and buoyancy.

  • Fluids Series

Embody the different forms and dynamics fluids take in our bodies; rhythm, rest and activity, tension and relaxation, communication and flow across systems. Each class in this series is a guided movement meditation focusing on a different alchemy of fluids, exploring synovial fluid, fascia, peri-organ fluids, blood, fat, lymph, & CSF.

  • Prevertebral Movement Patterns

Delving into the sea inside, this series explores the pre-vertebral movement patterns, the evolutionary patterns of motion that developed in the sea. Calling on our evolutionary memory, imagination, & embodied experience, explore how these patterns of being and moving support the development of our bodies and deepen our movement practices. Each class is guided movement meditation delving into vibration, cellular, sponging, pulsation, navel radiation, naval radiation, mouthing, and pre-spinal patterns.

  • The Senses

Through our senses we know ourselves and the world around us, bonding, defending, and learning. Explore how the senses develop and integrate as part of the developmental process, how they function, and how they interface with our internal world. Delve into the process of intake, perception, and response and the way our senses integrate within our nervous system and our whole selves, supporting our relationships with the world around us, modulation, and movement.

BMC® bodywork can address many things from physical discomfort to shedding the physical, structural, emotional, psychological, and psychic limitations that can be internalized over time through training and culture.

I find that there is something very poetic and profound in this space where new connections can be made and where real change happens on the path to healing and well-being.

Private Sessions

  • "The experiences I have had with Marissa are rich beyond words. I feel safe and supported to explore parts of my body-mind that are longing to be known by me, but that I cannot access while I am just tuning in on my own. Marissa's work supports me to be close to myself. "

    Kelly - NY, Somatic Practitioner

  • "Learning with Marissa: i thought i was going to anatomy class or something like that - instead this teacher has drawn me a bath, poured her lessons in, and now asks me to luxuriously soak."

Rachel - Maui, HI, Dance Artist

  • "Marissa's BMC classes are beautifully composed journeys through the structures and liminal places in the body. She directs clearly while still leaving lots of space for personal exploration and discovery. She has an excellent way of holding the energetic container of the class - keeping a feeling of connection between herself and the students, even in a virtual classroom setting. Her online sessions have been an oasis for me during these frightening pandemic times. I look forward to being able to experience Marissa's classes again in-person, hopefully sometime soon."

    Lindsay - Denver, Performer

  • "Marissa's classes have been completely transformative for me. Through our sessions I've become better able to respect my own needs amid the perpetual stimuli of urban life. I've been able to shift my lifestyle in subtle ways to make space for wellness. I have a new respect for my nervous system, especially. I can more fully appreciate my inheritance as a creature of nature."

Julia - Brooklyn, movement artist, theater director + educator
